Laura Richards - Section Grower - Herbs

Laura holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from The Ohio State University with a major in Horticulture and minor in Business with a Floriculture specialty. She  joined Millcreek as a grower in 2008 after working in the floral, commercial holiday decorating, garden center and interiorscape fields. Laura was the recipient of both state and national design-build landscape awards for 16 consecutive years.

For several years she was an Assistant Grower with primary focus in our Herb Department. In early 2013, she was promoted to Head Grower of Herbs, Edibles, and Specialty Crops. In 2015, as our product lines continue to expand in volume and variety, Laura’s mix of products she cares for was tweaked. She is currently the Section Grower for our Herbs & Edibles, which includes our newest line of 3″ Vegetables. She grows our amazing herbs as well as our relatively new mixed Decorative Planters of herbs. She has a passion for using fresh herbs and vegetables in the kitchen and enjoys sharing her knowledge of growing, consuming and storing them with others. She often assists walk-in customers.

Once we’ve past the peak of herb season in spring, Laura can be found assisting in our Propagation, Production, and Perennial Departments.

Outside of work Laura is the mother of an All-American running daughter, and two, diving and snowboarding sons. Her husband, Troy, is a registered landscape architect and together as a family, they retreat to the shores of Lake Erie. Laura is actively involved in her church.
